about amada

Amada is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based outside of Siguatepeque, Honduras. We exist to empower vulnerable women in Honduras by providing dignified and sustainable income. Our artisans are the inspiration behind the bracelets they create, which is demonstrated by the titles and beadwork.

Founded in 2019, Amada (the Spanish word for beloved) began as an artisanship program to help women in Siguatepeque, Honduras escape extreme poverty and domestic abuse. Over the past five years, we've served two cohorts of women who were apart of the program for two years before graduating. We are excited to welcome our newest group of artisans in 2025, who will be taught by two of our former artisans.

Each of our artisans are also apart of a mentorship and discipleship program. Along with being taught how to work as an artisan, we want them to know how loved and valued they are. Not just to us, but to God.

The beadwork on our bracelets represents different scriptures. These four bracelets are modeled after Deuteronomy 33:12. This is displayed through the numbers and spacing of the beads on the string.
