Siomara applied to join Amada’s artisan program in 2019, the year it started. Eight months prior, her husband had left for the United States to earn money and send it back to support Siomara and their son. Instead, he left and started a new life. Siomara began working as an artisan to support her family and rebuild. She quickly thrived, and when it was time to recruit a new cohort, we asked Siomara to help teach the new artisans how to make our bracelets. It’s been six years since Siomara joined Amada and we are still holding on tightly to her. She now serves as our Director of Operations in Honduras, where she oversees the artisan program and helps design the bracelets. Siomara is brave, loyal, and passionate. We hope you are reminded of perseverance when you wear her bracelet.
the Siomara
All of our bracelets are made in Honduras by our artisans. Proceeds go to supplying our artisans with the string and beads they need and paying them for their hard work.
On this bracelet, you will see the beadwork reflecting Deuteronomy 33:12. This is demonstrated in the first six beads (three, three) and the last three beads (one-two).
The verse reads: “Let the beloved of the Lord rest secure in him, for he shields him all day long, and the one the Lord loves rests between his shoulders.”
